Reflected (Reflejadx)
Taller Espacio Alternativo
Oaxaca, Mexico
November 2018
Reflected (Reflejadx) started out as a personal project back in 2018. I teamed up with a photographer to create my own original source material, and it first came to life as a small solo show in Sydney, Australia. Later that year, it grew into a large-scale, interactive installation that reimagined the human body and completely transformed the space it was shown in.
The goal was to shake up how we think about representation and beauty in popular culture. Instead of using a traditional female model, I used my own body. The result was a series of huge, cut-up and reassembled photographs that took inspiration from fashion photography but turned it on its head. These artworks—each one about 2 by 3 meters—also challenged the usual way collage is done.
The bigger version of the show was presented at Taller Espacio Alternativo, an experimental art and performance space in Oaxaca, Mexico. The pieces filled the main room, and visitors were invited to walk through them, touch them, and really immerse themselves in the experience. The idea was to make it feel like stepping inside a collage—or even inside a human body.
