Steve Tierney is a mixed media artist and designer working mainly with collage. His artworks are refined and minimal—generally figurative—and made from just a few images sourced from vintage magazines, photo journals, or original photography.
Born in 1976, Steve grew up in the southern coastal suburbs of Sydney, Australia, and studied art and design at Sydney Graphics College in 1997. He spent over a decade living in Mexico and recently returned to settle with his family in Bulli, on the NSW south coast.
Each of his artworks tells a story, often exploring social issues or personal experiences, shaped by a deep level of thought and self-analysis. His passion for collecting vintage magazines and scavenging for discarded objects, along with his sense of humour, has resulted in a unique aesthetic and vision.
A member of the Sydney Collage Society, Steve’s work has been published in international art journals, and he regularly creates commissioned pieces for foundations, not-for-profits, magazines, online editorials, skateboard brands, and album covers.
His work has been exhibited both solo and in group shows across the world, including in the USA, Japan, Mexico, and Italy.
